Local 1014 Participates in CWA Day Labor Walk for Andy Kim

On the beautiful Saturday, September 29 morning, Local 1014 members joined members from other CWA locals in knocking on the doors of union households in New Jersey’s Congressional District 3 and encouraging their participation in the upcoming election. CWA wants to #FliptheHouse to ensure the voices of working families are heard in Washington. Around one hundred walkers spread out over Burlington County from the CWA Local 1036 office in Mount Holly. Labor walks are scheduled every Saturday through Election Day. A big GOTV (Get Out the Vote) effort will be made that day. The Kim campaign has closed in on GOP Representative Tom MacArthur with the race being rated as a toss-up by polling agencies.   MacArthur voted to reduce taxes for billionaires while increasing overall taxes for many of his constituents. He also spearheaded the effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act, often referred to as Obamacare, including seeking the elimination of the provision that protected Americans who had preexisting conditions.

Volunteers in the campaign are welcome. Saturday labor walks will start out of Local 1036 around 9 am and end around noon. Anyone wanting to help should contact this office or Local 1036 directly to sign up. Volunteer opportunities include phone banking in addition to the labor walks.
