Barbara Johnson Named Local 1014 Member of the Year

At the December 5, Local 1014 Board of Trustees Meeting/Holiday Dinner, City of Camden Non-Supervisory Unit Trustee Barbara Bellamy-Johnson was named "Local 1014 Member of the Year". In presenting the award, Local 1014 President Karl Walko stated, "Each year at this time, Local 1014 selects one of its members as its “Member of the Year”. The Member of the Year award was created to recognize individuals who made an exceptional effort to improve their work place or to support fellow members. Our intent is to spotlight their service as an example for others. The selection is made by the Local 1014 Officers. This year’s Member of the Year is Barbara Bellamy-Johnson.

Speaking of stepping up….Barbara became a union representative when Local 1014 most needed representatives in City Hall. She also started after a disaster—the furloughs and layoff and then the 2009-2014 contracts. We needed to rebuild the union in the City—and especially in City Hall. Barbara, along with CWA National Rep Jim McAsey started with this process. Barbara is a clear voice for City members with the clarity of thought to match. Local 1014 looks for many more years of service from Barbara including in the upcoming negotiations. Her many outstanding qualities are recognized by the union and her co-workers. She is universally respected. Thank you from CWA Local 1014 and congratulations on the selection as Member of the Year!"
